Krakow Adventure, Part 4: The Dark Side

Underneath the majesty of Krakow lies a dark past. We rented an apartment in Kazimierz, the historic Jewish quarter. During WWII, 65,000 of Krakow's Jews were killed in the camps of Auschwitz located near the city. Oscar Schindler, made world-famous by the Steven Spielberg film, operated his factory in Krakow and saved many of the city's Jewish citizens. We visited Auschwitz and no words can adequately capture the feeling of visiting the place where over a million men, women, and children were brutalized and put to death.
